A learned Smartie of faith, Harold has been a fixture of the Fourth Place for as long as many can remember. Rallying arriving pilgrims through his sermons, he preaches of a Great Reunion with Humanity at the Fourth Place, where all will be judged by their Creators for their deeds and misdeeds. While he finds himself occasionally at odds with the rest of the Hominist leadership of the Fourth Place because of his fiery rhetoric and his unorthodox understanding of theology, any who meet him understand his wholehearted devotion to Humanity and to the world they left behind.
Harold is large for a Tanuki, though only he knows how much of that is actually him and how much is his mass of fur. He is recognizable by his pronounced limp from an accident in his youth, the walking stick that he uses to help himself move his considerable bulk, and the tiny top hat he always sports as an homage to the Humans he so reveres.
